Hall of the Demiurge
Painting recovered from the Morozov Folio.
The painting is in Morozov’s usual style, though the brushwork seems to be more frantic, perhaps hurried. The words “Hall of the Demiurge” are pencilled on the rear of the panel.
A demiurge (from the Greek dēmiourgos, meaning “artisan” or “craftsman”) is a philosophical and religious concept for a creator figure responsible for shaping and maintaining the physical universe, rather than the ultimate source of all spiritual reality.
